2022 Cowboys Season Preview: Week 17 at Tennessee Titans

The final AFC opponent the Cowboys will face in 2022 will be the Tennessee Titans in Nashville during Week 17.

The last time Dallas faced Tennessee was in 2018, a 28-14 win for the Titans in Arlington. The Cowboys last defeated the Titans in 2014, a 26-10 win on the road.

The Titans are led by veteran quarterback Ryan Tannehill. Tannehill’s cap hit of $38.6 million is the largest of any quarterback in the NFL, and he threw for 3,734 yards, 21 touchdowns and 14 interceptions last season.

The star of the Titans’ offense is running back Derrick Henry. Henry played eight games last season, rushing for 937 yards and 10 touchdowns before suffering a Jones fracture that ended his season.

After trading away wide receiver A.J. Brown to the Philadelphia Eagles during the 2022 NFL Draft, Tennessee has a new-look WR corps.

The Titans drafted Treylon Burks out of Arkansas with the first-round pick they acquired for Brown, and also traded for former Los Angeles Rams receiver Robert Woods. Woods caught 45 passes for 556 yards and four touchdowns in nine games last season before tearing his ACL.

Austin Hooper is expected to start at tight end after signing from the Cleveland Browns. Hooper recorded 345 receiving yards and three touchdowns last season.

Center Ben Jones anchors Tennessee’s offensive line. He’s joined by tackles Taylor Lewan and Dillon Radunz and guards Aaron Brewer and Nate Davis.

Defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons leads the Titans’ defensive line. Simmons recorded 8.5 sacks last season. Tennessee’s primary edge rushers are Harold Landry and Denico Autry, who combined for 20 sacks in 2021.

Zach Cunningham returns as the Titans’ No. 1 linebacker. He recorded 51 tackles last season. In the secondary, Tennessee will field Kristian Fulton and Caleb Farley at cornerback. Farley had his rookie season cut short in 2021 due to a torn ACL.

At safety, the Titans field the dynamic duo of Kevin Byard and Amani Hooker. Byard was a first-team All-Pro selection last season while Hooker started 12 games last season.

Mike Vrabel, the NFL’s reigning Coach of the Year, enters his fifth season as Tennessee’s head coach. He’s 41-24 in the last four seasons. The Cowboys will face the Titans on Thursday, Dec. 29 at 7:15 p.m CT on Thursday Night Football. The game will be streamed on Amazon Prime Video.
