3 things to watch during Cowboys second preseason game Saturday

The Dallas Cowboys travel on the road this week for their second preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks Saturday night.

The second of three preseason games.

While many of the team’s starters will play little to no snaps at all, the boys still have some position battles and players that we should focus on.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. from Lumen Field in Seattle. Cooper Rush will get the start who couldn’t find the endzone last week.

It shouldn’t matter how he does. He will be the backup for the 2023 season.

Some others need to show why they should make the 52-man roster this week and next.

BRANDON AUBREY

I am still not sold on this guy.

He was a soccer player for a reason. He switched to kicking a football when he didn’t make it in the MLS.

He is okay, but kickers win you games in this league.

I just don’t understand why Jerry Jones will wait for this dude to cost them a game for him to bring in a vet.

In the 2022 USFL Draft, Aubrey was selected by the Birmingham Stallions, converting on 14 of 15 field goal attempts for the season.

He finished 3rd in the league in scoring and earned himself an invite to Dallas Cowboys training camp to battle with Tristan Vizcaino for the kicking job.

Vizcaino has since been released, and reports say Aubrey has looked more confident.

I don’t buy it; I still need to see him make something over 45 yards.

Simi Fehoko

Simi Fehoko has had a rough training camp, and he may need a big spark tomorrow and next week.

Jalen Tolbert has made his stamp and has jumped him.

Jalen Brooks, the South Carolina rookie, has also looked outstanding.

Fehoko has dropped a handful of passes, and we have yet to talk about him as much as the others.

He needs to do something to STAND out over the roster in the wide receiver room.

Backup running back

Duece Vaughn put on a show last week in the first preseason game.

Look for Rico Dowdle and Malik David to try and make their case for that spot.

I don’t think we will see a genuine “RB2” simply because all of them have something they do well.

Vaughn is quick and has a burst in the second level, but he can’t pass block very well due to his size.

Dowdle started last week, so look for Vaughn to get it this week.

This will be when he can show if he can carry a heavier load.

I expect a few starters to play the first drive on both sides of the ball, but only a little other than that.

We are so close to week one against the Giants on Sunday Night Football. I can’t wait!

This defense is going to be fun. This offense is going to have a high motor with Brandin Cooks.

This team will do what they do; they just need to be constant in the postseason.
