49ers-Cowboys 2021 Playoff Game is Loaded With Nostalgia

If the Dallas Cowboys want to get back to Super Bowl glory, it’s only fitting that they’ll have to get through the San Francisco 49ers to pursue that goal.

With the two clubs now set to face each other in the Wild Card Round of the 2021 Playoffs, the air is thick with nostalgia after the classic rivalry they had in the 80s and 90s.

While “The Catch” in the 1981 NFC Championship Game may be the single-most historic moment in their saga, it was the three-straight meetings from 1992-1994 in the NFC Championship Game that really solidified 49ers-Cowboys as one of the greatest non-division rivalries in NFL history.

This video, produced in the past by the NFL Network, does an excellent job of quickly telling the story.

You can watch NFL Media’s “Rivalry Renewed: 49ers vs. Cowboys” here.

While this latest meeting won’t be in the conference championship, the drama won’t be lacking as these two teams meeting once more in the postseason.

It was only yesterday evening that we finally knew Dallas would be the 3rd seed in the NFC and host the 6th-seeded 49ers.

There will be plenty to dissect in the coming days as far as how these teams match up and the issues with player availability in the face of COVID and other injuries and illnesses.

But for now, enjoy the video and get ready for one of the Cowboys’ greatest rivals.
