Every season in the NFL is a fresh new journey with new players on every roster. No team is ever the same from the year before as the NFL Draft and free agency provide plenty of changes. With that being said, the Dallas Cowboys have a lot of decisions to make when it comes to forming their roster for the 2020 season.
15 of the Cowboys 25 unrestricted free agents are on the defensive side of the ball. All-Pro Byron Jones, Maliek Collins, and Sean Lee are just a few of the notable names that could possibly leave the Cowboys.
One of the most important free agents to be retained is 2019 offseason steal Robert Quinn. After missing the first two games due to a suspension for performance-enhancing drugs, Quinn was excellent. He led the team with 11.5 sacks and also added 22 quarterback hits. This was Quinn’s first double-digit sack season since 2014 during his days with the then St. Louis Rams.
More than likely, this will lead to Quinn being a hot commodity on the open market with lucrative offers sure to follow. According to ESPN’s Todd Archer, that may be too much to keep Quinn in a Cowboys uniform. After all, you can’t put a premium on pass rushers in today’s NFL, and with Quinn proving he still has plenty left in the tank, he’ll definitely have suitors once March arrives.
As for Quinn himself, if it were up to him, he’d return to the Cowboys in a heartbeat. When he spoke with Mike Fisher of Sports Illustrated, Quinn explained why he’d like to be in Dallas long-term.

“Since I got here, at first I joined a locker room full of strangers, and then they became friends and some of them became brothers,” Quinn said. “You love when things happen like that.”
Obviously, Quinn has established a bond with his teammates in Dallas. Also, the thought of having him play opposite All-Pro DeMarcus Lawrence for the foreseeable future is one I’m sure the Cowboys front office will take into consideration. Quinn will undoubtedly test the market seeing as this will be his first opportunity to do so. The Cowboys will be aggressive in trying to keep him, however, other suitors will surely throw the proverbial bag at Quinn for his services.
Now, we wait until March and let the chips fall where they may. Will Quinn return and team with Lawrence in 2020? We’ll find out sooner than later.
