Adrian Peterson is a hall of famer, just not with Dallas

There will be a fresh approach to the rushing strategy of the Dallas Cowboys in the upcoming season.

The team’s primary running back, Ezekiel Elliott, is no longer part of the roster, while their backup, Tony Pollard, is recovering from an injury.

Where does that leave Dallas?

Their team comprises a fleet of youthful and robust runners such as Ronald Jones, Rico Dowdle, Malik Davis, and Deuce Vaughn. Additionally, you can include Hunter Luepke for added depth.

The group has some promising talent, particularly with Davis and Vaughn. However, there is a lack of experience beyond Jones.

Speculations have arisen among both enthusiasts and experts regarding the potential reunion of Ezekiel Elliott with the Dallas Cowboys.

It’s safe to say that ship has sailed.

Right on schedule, we have the yearly Adrian Peterson to the Cowboys’ gibberish that hits the news cycle.

Would the Dallas front office consider contacting the future Hall of Fame player to join the team?

I certainly hope not, but anything is possible in today’s unpredictable world.

Is ADRIAN PETERSON ON DALLAS’ RADAR?

Two things can be true.

Does Adrian Peterson want to retire wearing the star on his helmet? I believe so.

Could it be possible that this is yet another case of unrequited love from the player’s perspective? It is quite likely.

The former Oklahoma Sooner was born and bred in Palestine, TX.

He has previously mentioned that his family belonged to the Dallas fan community. Who can blame them for that?

Being a part of the Cowboys’ history of running backs has to appeal to Peterson.

The list of Tony Dorsett, Emmitt Smith, and Ezekiel Elliott alone is enough to create interest from the player’s point of view.

We are all familiar with the age-old adage that states, “It takes two.” However, does Dallas share the same sentiment?

Jerry Jones and the front office have taken a more responsible approach to roster building, avoiding getting swayed by headlines and focusing on sound decision-making.

Occasionally, there are moments when Jerry prioritizes marketing over winning, but they have been infrequent as of late.

It is important to note that the Dallas Cowboys organization has not issued official statements regarding acquiring a running back, including Peterson.

Dallas should always be looking for talent regardless of what point of the season they are in.

This player doesn’t offer an upgrade at this point in his career.

What would the Dallas Cowboys be sacrificing?

It’s worth noting that snaps are valuable, even during the preseason. The signing of an unknown player could impact the playing time of Rico Dowdle or Malik Davis, which is confusing.

Both players are still striving to establish their position within the league.

Peterson’s inclusion on this team would impede their progress.

Let’s take a walk down memory lane.

On national TV, Adrian Peterson expressed discontent with Sean Payton because of the limited number of snaps against Minnesota.

Why would Mike McCarthy want to deal with that? I highly doubt he would.

At this point in his career, he would be an affordable acquisition.

Additionally, his experience would offer valuable guidance to a running back group in dire need of it.

In order for the front office to prioritize Adrian Peterson over their young players, they would require a greater return-on-investment.

Let’s put this in context. Peterson is a 38-year-old running back who last played in the NFL in 2021.

In the course of the year, he only managed to accumulate 98 yards from 38 carries, which amounts to a meager 2.0 yards per carry. From a return-on-investment standpoint, it’s not very impressive.

Replacing Elliott with someone who is ten years older and probably less athletic may not be the wisest choice.

Yes, you’ll get this player for pennies on the dollar, but remember, you get what you pay for.
