Anthony Brown out for the year with a torn Achilles

Dallas Cowboys cornerback Anthony Brown is out for the season after suffering a torn Achilles’ tendon late in the third quarter in the win over the Colts Sunday Night.

Team owner Jerry Jones confirmed the news last night after the victory. “I’m sick for him, sick for us, Jones said.

When Brown exited the game late in the third, he was replaced by Kelvin Joseph.

Brown, a sixth-round pick in 2016, had started every game for the Cowboys this season, working as the No. 2 cornerback lining up across All-Pro Trevon Diggs.

The Cowboys are already thin at the position as they lost Jourdan Lewis in week seven with a Lisfranc injury, which also ended his season. At this point, I would look for them to add another body, even for depth.

Rookie DaRon Bland, whom Dallas selected in the fifth round, has looked great stepping into the lineup. Now, the Cowboys may have to turn to a guy like Nahshon Wright, who has only been active for two games this season.

Kendall Sheffield, who is currently on the Cowboys practice squad, is another guy to keep an eye on if Dallas does not go outside the team to add any depth at Corner.

The Cowboys have much more depth at safety, but it is hard to believe one of them would be able to jump over and play a role as a cornerback. If they do anything, look for Sheffield. He played with Dan Quinn in Atlanta as the best option for now. He’s appeared in 38 games throughout his career.

I looked into the free agent market, and nobody outside of A.J. Bouye stands out.

He last played for the Panthers a season ago in the slot, and if the Cowboys added him, he would probably be asked to play a bit of a more significant role, but what could it hurt? Bouye has 16 career interceptions.
