ARI 21, DAL 3: Elliott has 2 Fumbles as Cowboys Keep Struggling

Ezekiel Elliott has two fumbles already, his fourth and fifth of the season, and the Dallas Cowboys are way behind in their Week 6 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals. A field goal to close the half has made the score 21-3 at the break.

Both of Elliott’s fumbles set up the Cardinals in scoring position and Arizona did the rest. Kyler Murray has found Christian Kirk for two touchdowns and another was run in by Kenyan Drake.

One of Murray’s scoring passes to Kirk was an 80-yard bomb that had Daryl Worley eating dust. While the Cowboys defense has looked good at times tonight, they are still clearly outgunned.

Andy Dalton has gone 15-of-20 on his passes but for only 82 yards. He did find Michael Gallup in the endzone on the final drive but Gallup had a rare drop which forced the Greg Zuerlein field goal.

But the real issue right now is Elliott’s ball security. He’s already at five fumbles for 2020 after having no more than six in a single season prior to now.

Tony Pollard came into the game after the second fumble and took the majority of the snaps, seemingly a disciplinary move by Mike McCarthy due to Zeke’s struggles.

Another major factor against the Cowboys right now is that Zack Martin left the game with concussion concerns and pulled Connor McGovern into action. That leaves only Connor Williams in the game right now from Dallas’ assumed starters going into the season.

The Cowboys do get the ball back to start the second half, but they will need to be a much different team if they want to change how this one’s going.
