All offseason, myself included, was calling for the Cowboys to sign a trusted veteran kicker to join this team.
After two weeks, I have never been happier to be wrong.
Cowboys kicker Brandon Aubrey has done something no kicker in the franchise’s history has ever done.
After making all five attempts Sunday against the Jets, Aubrey became the first player in Cowboys history to make his first seven field goal attempts.
He became just the fifth in the Super Bowl era to nail seven in their first two NFL games.
The other five were Harrison Butler, Jeff Reed, Richie Cunningham, and Eddie Murray.
Interesting note on Brandon Aubrey: He's the first kicker in #Cowboys history to make his first seven field goal attempts.
No clue how this season goes for him, but if you can't admit he's greatly boosted your confidence level until (unless) further notice…
You're full of it.

Aubrey missed his first-ever NFL kick, but it was a PAT in week 1 against the Giants.
I thought to myself, here we go again.
Since then, he’s been the best kicker in football.
Now, it’s only week two, and we saw how quickly it turned for Brett Maher a year ago.
He had a great year, and in the playoffs, he had the case of the yips and missed enough PATs that Jerry Jones kicked him out the door.
Expect Aubrey to be busy again in week 3 against the winless Arizona Cardinals.
Winding Road
Aubrey played soccer at Notre Dame, making 76 appearances and scoring 15 goals.
He was drafted by the Toronto FC 21st overall in the 2017 MLS draft.
After being unable to find his footing at the pro level, he decided to try football.
In 2019, Aubrey started training with a coach full-time and independently in his garage during the pandemic.
He then got a chance in the USFL.
He was picked up by the Birmingham Stallions in 2022.
Aubrey went on to make the All-USFL first team and two league titles.
When he signed with Dallas this summer, I thought he had no chance to make the team, but here we are.
Yet here we are.
Two weeks into the season, he hasn’t missed a field goal yet.
I hope I didn’t just jinx him.
One thing I have noticed, though, is how smooth he does indeed look.
It could be the soccer background, but from his takeoff to his follow. It just looks really fluid.
We can revisit this halfway through the season to see how he holds up.
Now, I don’t expect him to be perfect on the year, and how will he feel when the kick has a lot of pressure?
The hype is REAL with the Dallas Cowboys..

He has been kicking with big leads two weeks into the season, so he might get tight later in the year when he needs to make one to go ahead or win the game.
Either way, the Cowboys are 2-0, outscoring their opponents 70-10, and fans are still crying.
Let’s enjoy the balance on both sides of the ball, and not worry about anything else.
We have a long way to go, but the way things look right now, this team is doing everything right.
The tougher part of the schedule is coming, but the team looks and feels different with everything that is going on.
A good thing to have.
