According to Dallas Cowboys Columnist Mickey Spagnola, CB Kelvin Joseph was cleared by Dallas County Police officials for his involvement in a March shooting that resulted in the death of 20-year-old Cameron Ray.
This is the first update regarding Joseph’s legal situation since April 15, when he first got investigated by police officials for his connection to the shooting.

While Cowboys fans may be elated that Joseph will now get the “green light” to practice and play without any worries, according to Spagnola, Joseph could still face a suspension for violating the NFL’s Personal Conduct Policy.
But, for now, Joseph will head into Training Camp with some weight off his shoulders, as he will need to devote all his focus to landing a starting CB spot.
A 2nd Round Pick out of LSU in the 2021 NFL Draft, Kelvin Joseph was being projected by some fans and analysts as the Cowboys’ next talented CB who could be paired with CB Trevon Diggs — but also as a potential Anthony Brown replacement in 2023.
However, after a rookie season filled with time spent on IR and little-to-no playing time on the field after he got activated in Week 7, Joseph’s spot in the rotation is now not guaranteed.
While I’m not labeling Joseph as a bust already in his second year, I just want fans to remember there are a lot of guys the franchise has in the CB room that you can arguably make a case for to start, so don’t be surprised if you don’t see him as a week-one starter.
Nonetheless, it’s time for Kelvin Joseph to get to work and prove why he was worth a Day Two selection.
