According to reports, the Dallas Cowboys have acquired Defensive End Michael Bennett via trade from the New England Patriots.
New England is trading DE Michael Bennett to the Dallas Cowboys for 7th-round pick that can go to a 6th-round pick in 2021, league sources tell @Schultz_Report and me.

Michael Bennett is a three-time Pro Bowler and won a Super Bowl with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2018. He has 65.5 career sacks in his 11-year career in the NFL, 2.5 of which he added this year in five games with the Patriots. He is also the older brother of Martellus Bennett, a former Dallas Cowboys TE (2008-2011) who they drafted in the second round of the 2008 NFL Draft.
Bennett recently just rejoined the Patriots team after serving a one-game suspension from what he described as a “psychological disagreement”, which could be partly why New England was willing to ship him to Dallas. He is after all pretty well known for his outspokenness.
Regardless of why the Patriots were willing to part ways with the still talented 33-year-old DE, this should be regarded as one of those risk/reward moves Jerry Jones likes to make. Bennett is a better fit in a 4-3 defensive scheme like the Cowboys deploy than he was in the Patriots 3-4 defense and will be a welcomed addition after DE/DT Tyrone Crawford was placed on IR here recently.
It’s difficult to project how Michael Bennett will fit into the Cowboys locker room after being a division rival with the Philadelphia Eagles, but as long as he can remain professional this a move that could pay off in a big way. He is yet another disruptive defensive lineman to add to the rotation.
