As the Dallas Cowboys fanbase continues its quest for a Super Bowl, a dark, intimidating shadow lurks in its path. This shadow belongs to none other than San Francisco 49ers QB Brock Purdy.
This young quarterback was the very last pick of the 2022 NFL Draft and has shown to deserve the name of Mr. Relevant rather than Mr. Irrelevent.
Brock has scored over 30 points in six of his seven games. This man obviously has great potential and is not willing to lose.
As a matter of fact, he is undefeated right now, standing at 7-0.
Purdy is an amazing QB, yet there is a certain defense that he hasn’t run into yet.
The Cowboys have had the #2 defense for most of the year (right behind the 49ers) and have given up very few points to anyone they come across.
While I know Brock Purdy will struggle against this defense more than his previous opponents, the Cowboys have really good pass rushers such as Micah Parsons and Dorance Armstrong.
These guys can put a ton of pressure on Purdy and cause him to mess up.
This will be a key factor in Sunday night’s matchup and will play a huge part in the game.
If Brock Purdy can be put under pressure, then he can definitely be exposed. While he is, in fact, a very talented quarterback and a great leader to his team, he just hasn’t run into a powerful and aggressive defense like this one.
Even when he was at Iowa State University he was never faced with a rushing-style defense that always went after the QB.
Purdy is too good of a quarterback for man defense. He’s accurate and precise and can’t be beaten in a throwing competition.
I mean, look at this pass!
Purdy good throw!

If you look carefully at that video you can also see that some of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defenders got into the backfield just before he threw it away. I believe that if those defenders were wearing a Cowboys uniform, he would have been sacked.
Parsons and other linemen are just too quick and if the 49ers’ line lets up huge holes like that, then our guys will be feasting this Sunday. Sack after sack.
While rushing him is the way to go for sure, playing a zone-style defense is also the way to go. He is still young, and while he’s skilled in many areas, throwing a confusing zone defense at him would make things very stressful for him.
Brock Purdy needs to be shown what the NFL is really like.
Purdy has been lucky to get softer teams with hardly any good defenders on them over his first 7 games. This Divisional Round will be his first real challenge at getting past a strong defense.
Over the week, our guys need to come up with a complicated zone system and work on rushing every single down.
