Lots of stats and match-ups can be shared for the upcoming game this Sunday. The Dallas Cowboys will be visiting the Philadelphia Eagles, lots of eyes will be on this game for it will potentially place the winner of the game in first place for the entire NFC.
Right now, the Eagles are in first place however if the Cowboys manage to pull out a win, they will most likely overtake their place.
For game stats, this will be the 122nd meeting between the two teams. Dallas leads the series 69-53. Dallas has won the last seven of nine in the series. At the last meeting, the Cowboys won 51-26 last season and is on an eight-win streak against NFC East opponents.
Another interesting fact is that the Cowboys still have not allowed over 20 points this season. This is the first time since 1972 that the Cowboys’ defense has done this well.
The last time the Eagles and Cowboys met with a record of 4-1 or better was on October 16th, 1994… wait a second?! Yep, 28 years ago exactly that similar game took place. Dallas won that old game with a score of 24-13.
The Dallas Cowboys rank 1st in touchdowns allowed by opponents, only allowing four this season. This is a huge stat that sums up how good of a defense the Cowboys have overall.
Now onto player match-ups and stats. Upon the high stakes that will be added to the atmosphere in-game time, let’s take a look at the QB match-up that will occur. Once again, Quarterback Cooper Rush will be the starter this week as Dak Prescott is still having issues with his thumb.
On the other sideline, we’ll be seeing the unstoppable Jalen Hurts lead the Eagles on Sunday. How do Rush and Hurts compare and contrast to each other though? There are many reasons for that, but one important one is that each QB is undefeated this year, more drama for Sunday’s game.
For Micah Parsons, this will be a very large game hopefully for the heroic linebacker. Parsons already has 6 sacks this year and has put uncountable pressure on the opponent’s quarterbacks.
With the way Jalen Hurts scrambles and holds onto the ball for long periods, Parsons should have a field day, racking up some great stats.
On the offensive side of the ball, we have two very talented running backs that are hungry for wins. Running Back Tony Pollard already has 248 total yards for the season with two touchdowns.
Running Back Ezekiel Elliott has 305 total yards and one touchdown. This duel threat of a running back duo is critical when it comes to winning big games like this one.
One position that gets ignored a lot is the kicker. The Cowboys’ secret weapon Kicker Brett Maher is on fire this year. Brett is 4/5 on field goals that are 50+ yards this season alone. Maher also holds the third-longest-made field goal in NFL history at 63 yards.
One more person to look at is Head Coach Mike McCarthy. While many fans have their doubts or defenses about him, it’s safe to say that he’s doing a decent job as of right now. Mike has a record of 39-18 in the month of October. He has an overall record of 157-101-2, the 5th best record by any active head coach.
This Sunday’s game will be a handful for each team. While the Cowboys have very effective stats like the ones posted here, the real question is if they can handle the pressure and execute plays when needed. We will all see the showdown of the year this Sunday night.
