CB Orlando Scandrick “Recruiting” Dez Bryant To Washington

The Washington Redskins have become the land of Cowboys rejects over the last few years, often signing those who did not receive new deals from Dallas.

This offseason, Washington signed former Cowboys cornerback Orlando Scandrick. Scandrick had a productive career in Dallas, but as the years and injuries piled up it became clear that it was time for a change.

Now, Scandrick is trying to get another former Cowboy to join him in Washington, franchise receiving touchdown leader Dez Bryant.

Orlando Scandrick joined NFL Network recently to discuss his transition in joining the Washington Redskins, but of course they could not resist asking him about Bryant’s free agency. Per usual, Scandrick was open and honest in his answers about his former teammate.

“I think Dez is still a free agent by Dez’s choice a little bit. Washington (would be a good fit). I know Dez can still catch touchdowns, I know he can be a great red zone threat, and I would love to play with him again.” – Orlando Scandrick on Dez Bryant

It could be argued that the Redskins are currently missing that “number one” receiver type on their roster, though they will be hoping for former TCU standout Josh Doctson to take the next step. It’s also fair to wonder just how well Bryant even fits that prototype anymore.

As Scandrick alluded to, it’s a bit surprising that Dez Bryant is still a free agent at this stage of the offseason. I’d put Washington on the list of potential fits, but teams like Green Bay and Indianapolis seem to make more sense to me.
