On the heels of a superstar performance in Dallas’ victory over the Philadelphia Eagles, Cornerback Trevon Diggs has been named the NFC Defensive Player of the Month for September. The second-year stud had an interception in each of the Cowboys’ first three games.
Diggs is tied with Bengals LB Logan Wilson for the league lead in interceptions after Week 3. His pick-six in Monday night’s win was a soul-crushing play for the Eagles, ending any realistic thoughts of a second-half comeback.
Trevon is the first Cowboys defender to win the monthly award since DeMarcus Lawrence in September of 2017.

After his torrid start to 2021, Diggs may not be getting as many opportunities for picks the rest of the season. But even if those numbers go down, his impact on the defense could be tremendous as he forces quarterbacks to look in other directions.
Like many 2020 rookies, it was a rough entry to the NFL during the outbreak of COVID-19 and the loss of significant offseason work and preseason games. But even as a rookie, Trevon flashed his play-making potential.
If these three weeks are any indication, Trevon Diggs is only just getting started. By the end of this season, we could be talking about even bigger awards and recognition for the Cowboys’ emerging defensive star.
