It doesn’t take much digging when looking at the Dallas Cowboys depth chart that they’ve got a serious need at the cornerback position. The Cowboys were likely going to need to sign a veteran and draft a player to help upgrade the position and fill the needs. Bringing back one of their own just came off the table as Chidobe Awuize has agreed to terms with the Cincinnati Bengals on a three-year deal.
Per Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, the Bengals are bringing in Awuzie and will likely be a starter in their secondary as they look to mitigate the likely loss of William Jackson III.

Awuzie was never a great player for the Dallas Cowboys, but he was solid over four seasons. Generally in the right position, Awuzie was often victimized by really good throws and losing contested catches.
Many thought Awuzie would improve under Mike Nolan in 2020, but injuries kept him from staying on the field. Awuzie now gets a fresh start and will play under his third defensive coordinator in three seasons.
Chidobe Awuzie started 42 of a possible 49 games played across four seasons, closed his Cowboys career with four interceptions and 37 passes defended.
Though we’ve yet to hear the terms of the three-year deal, it’s likely the former second-round pick will factor into the compensatory pick formula for 2022.
