The Dallas Cowboys have selected Defensive End Jalen Jelks from Oregon in the seventh round, 241st overall, in the 2019 NFL Draft.
Jelks is the second DE taken by the Cowboys in this draft; Dallas also selected Miami’s Joe Jackson in the fifth round. They also helped the defensive line with DT Trysten Hill from UCF in the second.

Jelks and Jackson are joining a crowded DE position with DeMarcus Lawrence, Robert Quinn, Taco Charlton, Kerry Hyder, and Dorance Armstrong all currently in play. The status of Randy Gregory for 2019, though currently suspended, is also up in the air.
The scouting report on Jelks actually reminds you a little of Gregory; tall, slender build with some athletic moves but lacking power. Dallas may be looking at him as a developmental player for the practice squad, hoping to get him physically ready for the NFL.
