Cowboys are expected to draft a WR, but who?

Finally, Odell Beckman Jr. signed with a team, so we can stop talking about him.

With that final word said regarding him, the Dallas Cowboys are expected to take a few offensive players at some point in the draft.

Will the Cowboys take one early or wait and look to grab one if they fall into the second round?

Let me know what you think of the list below. A few of these guys won’t be around for the Cowboys to draft unless something crazy happens, but here are my favorites in the 2023 NFL draft.

JAXON SMITH-NJIGBA

Jaxon Smith-Njugba is the best wide receiver in the class, no debate.

He is ranked as high as 12th on the big board. He missed time with a hamstring issue, but in 2021 he was Ohio States leading guy as a Sophomore.

He caught 95 passes for 1,595 yards and nine touchdowns. He will be the first guy taken off the board. Unless the Cowboys do something crazy and trade up to get him, he won’t fall.

Smith-Njigba could have the best career out of any pass catchers in this year’s draft.

Zay Flowers

If Zay Flowers is on the board at No. 26, the Cowboys shouldn’t even think twice.

Flowers is a more undersized wideout, but he broke the Boston College single-season record for touchdown receptions (12) and finished with 78 receptions and 1,077 receiving yards.

Cooks could be gone after 2023, and drafting Flowers would allow them to hang onto him and CeeDee Lamb for the long term.

It is always hard to tell how a draft will go.

Call me crazy, but if Flowers and Bijan Robinson were in the first round, I would take Flowers.

JOSH DOWNS

Give me all of Josh Downs. One of the most underrated wide receivers in the draft in my opinion.

Downs is a slot weapon that you can feed schemed-up targets to and watch go to work.

He finished with 195 catches for 2,364 yards and 19 touchdowns the past two years.

The only problem is that he’s probably never going to be much more than a slot at his size (5-foot-10, 175 pounds), with only 81 routes on the outside in his career.

These are the top three guys I would like to see the Cowboys draft. All have big upside. You never know what you may get from a player out of college.

If the Cowboys don’t land any of them, keep an eye on names such as: Jalin Hyatt from Tennessee. He can flat out fly. A younger version of what Dallas had in T.Y Hilton last year.

Also A.T Perry from Wake Forest. He has had over 1,000 yards the last two seasons and could fall to the Cowboys in the third or fourth round.

With Lamb, Cooks and Michael Gallup (if he can return to form) the Cowboys will be loaded at the wide receiver position. A spot that made most of us want to throw up last year.

The front office has finally be doing all the right things. It is time to get the few missing extras to help the depth and boost this team.
