Cowboys HC Mike McCarthy Non-Committal To Sunday’s Starting Quarterback

This…is not how the Dallas Cowboys 2020 season was supposed to go.

With starting quarterback Dak Prescott out for the season, his backup Andy Dalton out this week on the COVID list, and the third string Ben DiNucci clearly not ready for NFL action, Dallas is down to some…interesting options.

Head coach Mike McCarthy will need to decide between Garrett Gilbert and Cooper Rush. The latter, of course, Prescott’s former backup under Jason Garrett. The former, Gilbert, was a sixth round pick in 2014 and was last seen with the Cleveland Browns and Orlando Apollos.

McCarthy remains non-committal about who will start during Sunday’s matchup with the unbeaten Steelers, saying that the team is still “working through the process.”

Right now there’s no indication either way, and both guys are really new additions to the 2020 version of the Cowboys roster.

But no matter who starts, they will have their work cut out for them against the prolific Steelers defense.
