It’s starting to seem like Kellen Moore is heading to Boise State.
The second year Cowboys offensive coordinator is reportedly in the running for a head coaching job with the Broncos, his alma mater. Moore interviewed with Boise State last week, and some are calling him the frontrunner for the job.
Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy spoke about the rumors during his postgame press conference yesterday, being as vague as possible on Moore’s future in Dallas.

McCarthy said he understands what a “unique” opportunity this is for Moore to go and coach at the school where he set some many records, but also noted that he and the Cowboys think “the world of” Kellen Moore as a coach.
McCarthy then finished with “I’ve probably said too much,” which is about as cryptic as it gets.
Moore was promoted from quarterbacks coach to offensive coordinator before the 2019 season, and has called plays for two of the most explosive offenses in recent Cowboys history.
Despite losing their starting quarterback and three top offensive linemen this season, Moore has the Cowboys 12th in yards per game and 16th in points per game. When healthy last season Moore coached the Cowboys to number two overall in offensive DVOA. He’s also noticeably improved as a play caller this season, showing a great feel for play sequencing and an understanding of how to protect his banged up offensive line.
Losing Kellen Moore would be a tough one for a Cowboys team looking to rebound quickly in 2021 with a healthy Dak Prescott. Sure, this offense is talented enough where you probably feel good about their chances to move the ball regardless, but the wrong hire could set back even this impressive group.
Amazingly, Moore is just 32 years old and receiving all of this hype and attention. He is poised to have a heck of a coaching career, and hopefully Jerry Jones can make it happen in Dallas.
