New head coach Mike McCarthy added another coach to his staff this week, reportedly hiring former Giants tight ends coach Lunda Wells to the same position.
An in-division-coaching change: Giants’ TE coach Lunda Wells is being hired as the Dallas Cowboys’ TE coach, per league source.

Lunda Wells became the Giants tight ends coach in 2018, but was an assistant offensive line coach on their staff during the five years prior. Wells spent time with LSU as their assistant offensive line coach as well, where he was tasked with game day operations responsibilities from then head coach Les Miles.
Surprisingly, Wells does have experience with the Cowboys. Back in 2010, Wells served as an offensive intern during training camp, working with offensive line coach Hudson Houck.
All of this OL experience indicates Wells’ speciality may be in teaching his tight ends to run block, but Evan Engram was certainly a prolific receiving target under his teachings as well.
