The Scott Linehan Experience may not over in Dallas after all. Head Coach Jason Garrett said in a radio interview today that the offensive coordinator will be back in 2019.

Garrett also said that they anticipate no other significant changes to the coaching staff.

This is a sour pill for almost all of Cowboys Nation, who saw Linehan’s firing as one of the few silver linings to the team’s offensive struggles this year. He has been the primary scapegoat for the team’s overall offensive struggles and the perceived lack of development in Dak Prescott’s game.

Had Linehan been fired, Dallas would have likely had to look outside the organization for a new coordinator. One internal candidate might have been Doug Nussmeier, who is currently the TE Coach but has extensive OC experience in college with programs like Alabama, Florida, and Michigan.

And keep in mind that this is Garrett talking, not Jerry Jones. In the end, it’s up to Jerry who stays and goes in Dallas.

But really, the Cowboys head coach probably wouldn’t have said this without having already confirmed it with his boss.

So yeah, it looks like another year with Scott Linehan as the offensive coordinator.
