On Tuesday, the Jaguars released veteran wide receiver Zay Jones.
The second-round pick in 2017 has been a decent player in his role in his eight-year career.
Jones first entered the NFL in the 2017 NFL draft as a second-round pick by the Buffalo Bills.
Jaguars released WR Zay Jones and K Joey Slye.

He compiled 287 receptions for 3,028 receiving yards and 18 touchdowns.
His best season came in 2022 when he started 15 games and had 121 targets for 823 yards and five touchdowns.
As we all should know by now, Michael Gallup was released and signed with the Los Vegas Raiders, so the Cowboys WR3 is still kinda open.
My guess is Jalen Tolbert has the inside track for that spot as he out-snapped Gallup in a handful of games last season.
He looked more comfortable in 2023 than in his rookie season, where he couldn’t even see the field.
Why Not Take A Chance?
What is it going to hurt? He is a player who won’t be demanding a lot of money. He is to the point now where he just wants to be a part of a roster where he will see the field.
The Dallas Cowboys is the perfect spot for him at this point in his career, and he can slide right into the same role he had with the Jags.
A healthy Zay Jones would be a good addition to Cowboys receiver room. Dad, Robert Jones, a Super Bowl champion with Cowboys https://t.co/e8LDrchyRU

You get to play behind CeeDee Lamb (as long as they get a deal done and he shows up), and Brandin Cooks.
Dallas only added one wideout in the draft this year Ryan Flournoy.
Flournoy is a prospect out of South East Missouri State and was taken in the sixth round. He probably won’t be on the roster within the next few years.
Still Need Help
Signing Jones would help them by bringing in a solid WR to add to the room, but let’s be honest, they still have no running game even with bringing Zeke back.
I think the offensive line is going to be better than most people think.
My dawg Zay Jones!!! The #Cowboys Bloodline!!! Come on home Fam!!! https://t.co/KQsbQdilZX

With Tyler Guyton at left tackle, Tyler Smith at guard, then Beebe at center with Zack Martin and Terence Steele on the right the Cowboy’s offensive line should be at worst at the same level as last season.
I LOVE the Beebe pick. It was in my opinion, the Cowboy’s best pick of the draft. Not sure how he made it to the third round.
Among draft-eligible guards, Beebe had the highest career grade at 88.3.
He played against first-round pick Byron Murphy and second-round pick T’Vondre Sweat from Texas and allowed ZERO pressures. Proving that he can hold his own against players who will be day-one starters in the NFL in 2024.
The Cowboys could make this singing work if they really wanted to. Jones would not be asking for a lot of money, and could help the WR room the moment in walks in there.
A Knee PCL Sprain Grade 2 in 2023 is the biggest injury he has ever had. So the chance of him getting hurt is slimmer than most. He will be able to be dependable and stay on the field for Dallas.
Heck, if they sign him for a veteran minimum and it doesn’t work out in camp, you cut him. It is 100% worth brining him in and seeing if he has anything left in the tank.
If he went for 800 plus yards just a year and half ago, I think he can come in and give you production playing behind CeeDee Lamb and Brandin Cooks.
We will wait and see what happens, do I think Jerry Jones will make the call? No, I don’t, but it is always fun to write about the thought of Dallas actually doing something to help the football team.
