Despite their recent signing of veteran pass rusher Everson Griffen, ESPN’s Ed Werder is reporting that the Dallas Cowboys are still eyeing reinstatement of defensive end Randy Gregory.
Gregory was suspended indefinitely in February 2019 and missed all of last season.
While the NFL is reportedly lessening the punishment for violations of their substance abuse policy — especially where marijuana is concerned — Gregory is still left in the dust.
The signing of veteran defensive end Everson Griffen should not be interpreted as the #Cowboys moving on from @RandyGregory_4. They want him on the roster if and when he’s reinstated by the #NFL.

Randy Gregory recently tweeted an update on his situation, saying that he is staying ready for a return but is clearly frustrated by the NFL’s process.
Gregory has struggled to stay on the field since entering the league, but his talent is clear as day when he gets his chances. In 28 career games, the 27-year-old pass rusher has seven sacks and 45 total tackles.
Of course, Griffen is a phenomenal option opposite DeMarcus Lawrence, but adding another threat in Randy Gregory could take this defensive line to another level.
After all, you can never have too many pass rushers.
Dallas has refused to give up on Gregory throughout his troubles, which is both encouraging for the man and for the team.
Hopefully, he can find himself back on the field this season contributing to what looks like a Super Bowl contending roster.
