Cowboys Take Giant Lead: The Heaviest Point Spread in the NFL This Year

The Dallas Cowboys are not just the biggest favorites of the week against the Giants on Sunday; they are the heaviest favorites of the NFL season thus far.

Dallas is currently favored by 16.5 points, the biggest point spread in the NFL in 2023.

Until this matchup, the biggest spreads this season were a pair of 15-point lines.

Ironically, the Giants were the underdogs in one of them. That came when they took on the Bills in week 6.

The Bills only won that game 14-9, so it shows that games, no matter where and when they are played, are not to be taken lightly, regardless of the situation.

Little Giants

Let’s hope this doesn’t bite me, but look at what New York is now working within this matchup.

Daniel Jones is out for the season with a torn ACL.

Tommy Devito will be the starting quarterback on Sunday when the Cowboys look to extend their 11-game home winning streak to 12.

This team is going to be all about Saquon Barkley and nobody else.

Don’t play with your food

We saw the Cheifs lose to the Broncos a couple of weeks ago as heavy favorites.

The funny thing is, last year, the last time the NFL saw a higher point spread than what the Cowboys game will feature on Sunday was in week 14.

Dallas was favored by 17 against Houston. Dallas surprisingly needed a fourth-quarter comeback but ultimately won 27-23.

This game is a nice time to get more creative with the run game.

They have yet to get anything from Tony Pollard.

Terence Steele has also been a MAJOR problem.

Pull the tackles and get Pollard outside a bit more. Start using Dowdle. He had an excellent run against the Eagles, and guess what? It got called back due to holding. Shocker.

Steele has been the biggest problem for this team thus far. He signed an 86-million-dollar extension this year.

He can not continue to be this bad.

Through the first eight weeks of the season, the Cowboys offensive line has given up 75 pressures, and Steele is responsible for 28 of them.

With the money he is now making, that can’t happen. The running and passing games will need him to be better, as this team has now hit the season’s midway point.

Again, let’s not act like this should be a walk in the park.

Dallas still needs to show up and answer the bell, whether they are the 16.5-point favorites.

Don’t let this team hang around because it would be an all-time embarrassment if they lost this football game.

If Dallas somehow finds a way to lose this game, I may go ghost for the next three weeks. This would be the worst loss ever since my days started in 96.

Do I think the Cowboys will win by 17 points? I would not be shocked if this was an ugly game early, and then the Cowboys pulled away for a 33-17 type final.

The next handful of games for the Cowboys won’t be a walk in the part, but there is no reason they should not be 9-3 when the Eagles come to town.

Go take care of your business Dallas.
