Cowboys WR Coach Robert Prince has Strong Ties to OC Kellen Moore

Kellen Moore received several interviews for head coaching jobs after producing two No. 1 offenses in the past three seasons for the Dallas Cowboys. He was granted a second sit-down with the brass of the Miami Dolphins and they were impressed with his presentation, but they decided to hire former San Francisco 49ers Offensive Coordinator Mike McDaniel as their new head coach.

After striking out on at least four opportunities to be the head man of an organization (interviewed with Minnesota, Denver, and Jacksonville as well), Moore is returning as the offensive coordinator in Dallas in 2022. There would be one vacancy to fill on the Cowboys staff after he announced he was coming back however as Wide Receivers Coach Adam Henry’s contract expired. Dallas turned to Robert Prince to take over the duties of Henry, and he is very familiar with the aforementioned Moore.

Prince was the wide receivers coach at Boise State in 2011 which was Moore’s senior season with the Broncos, but it goes deeper than that. In 2014, Moore’s final season as a backup quarterback with the Detroit Lions, Prince held the same title in the Motor City.

Besides his time with the Lions, Prince has plenty of NFL experience with several other organizations dating back to 2004. He had stints with the Atlanta Falcons, Jacksonville Jaguars, Seattle Seahawks, and Houston Texans. The Okinawa, Japan native held various titles as an offensive assistant, running backs coach, tight end coach, assistant quarterbacks coach, and wide receivers coach.

This is a crucial season for Moore. Although his unit put up impressive numbers, they were not the same juggernaut at the end of the season as they were in the first six weeks, and it culminated in a lackluster showing against the 49ers in the first round of the playoffs which led to the Cowboys promising year coming to an end prematurely.

Once Moore knew he was returning to the Cowboys, he put Prince’s name as the top candidate to become the leader of the team’s wide receiver room. The hope is that the familiarity between the two can fix some communication issues that arose with Quarterback Dak Prescott and the receiving corp in 2021.

The spotlight on Prince will be much bigger in Dallas and it will be interesting to see if the Cowboys wide receivers can improve next season under his guidance.

I write dope stuff about the Dallas Cowboys and what not.
