DAL 24, NYG 20: Cowboys Slip Early, but Find Stride for Halftime Lead

The Cowboys were down 14-3 thanks to their new routine of sloppy, slow starts to games. But a 2nd-quarter rally, highlighted by returned fumble for a touchdown and a fantastic drive before halftime, has helped Dallas come back to post a 24-20 halftime lead over the Giants.

New York built their early lead thanks to more double-sided struggles from the Cowboys. They marched the field on their first drive and scored on a run play by Evan Engram. Next came a pick-six by linebacker Kyle Fackrell, who grabbed a tipped pass and returned it 46 yards to the endzone.

Dallas didn’t wait until the second half to start this comeback. They responded with a solid drive and Ezekiel Elliott punched it in for a touchdown. He has 12 carries for 45 yards so far.

DeMarcus Lawrence’s first sack of the season came on the next New York drive and also caused a fumble by Daniel Jones, which Anthony Brown scooped up and ran in for the rare defensive score. Brown is playing in his first game since Week One after missing time with a rib injury.

The Giants did respond with a good drive to get into scoring position. However, a touchdown pass to Engram off a fake field goal was called back due to a New York penalty. They ended settling for three points.

With a little less than a minute on the clock, the Cowboys stayed aggressive and worked the ball the field. From the Giants 11-yard line, Cedrick Wilson got the ball on a reverse but then threw it to an open Dak Prescott for the trick-play touchdown.

With both the Eagles and the Football Team losing today the Cowboys can take sole possession of the NFC East lead with a win. They have the momentum going into the locker room, and hopefully they figure out how to maintain it in the second half.
