DAL 27, HOU 23: Cowboys avoid upset of the year

The Dallas Cowboys snuck out a victory over the Houston Texans 27-23.

Quarterback Dak Prescott led the Cowboys down the field for a game-winning 11-play, 98-yard touchdown drive with less than a minute to go in regulation.

After a head-scratching game, the offense and the defense made the right plays at the right time to avoid the upset of the year.

The Cowboys scored twice in the first quarter and couldn’t find the end zone again until they needed it the most; a score that won them the game.

The Texans kicked a FG to take a 23-17 lead late in the third quarter.

The team sputtered for most of the game, playing a bit conservatively and nearly cost them, but when it mattered the most, the defense had a goal-line stand.

Just like last week, we had another entertaining 4th quarter.

After Prescott had his arm hit, which forced an interception with just under three minutes to play, I thought the game was all but over.

The defense kept the Houston offense out of the end zone for four straight plays. The stop gave the offense one last chance.

Prescott made arguably his best throws of the season when the Cowboys needed them the most.

The victory moves the Cowboys to 10-3 on the season. It marks the first time since 1995-96 that the franchise has put together back-to-back 10-win seasons.

With all that said, we can’t ignore the fact this team looked awful for the entire game until they were about to be the talk of the sports media world all week.

If I took one thing away from this game, it’s what we’ve been saying all week! Please don’t play with your food; it may cost you.

The way the offense moved the ball on the final game-winning drive is how they need to operate every time they touch the ball.

The defense got a bit banged up in this matchup, and with as thin as they are now, let’s hope Trevon Diggs and Jonathan Hankins can recover and be ready to go for the playoff push.

A win is a win, but if they don’t find some consistency it is going to cost them in January.
