DAL 35, DET 27: Dak Prescott Leads Explosive Passing Offense To Victory

Through the first five minutes of Sunday’s game, it felt like Cowboys fans could be in for yet another stressful game. Instead, the Cowboys recovered quickly from their slow start, and took over the game from the second quarter on.

The deciding drive of the day came in the fourth quarter. Leading just 27-21, the Cowboys took over with 13:37 left in the game. Dak Prescott took over, orchestrating an excellent touchdown drive which took nearly six minutes off the clock. On third down and 8 Prescott found Ezekiel Elliott on a screen pass, and Elliott did the rest for the score.

Dallas went up 35-21 with this touchdown, and despite a valiant comeback effort from the Lions, Dallas held on for the important victory.

As mentioned, Prescott was awesome once again this week. Throwing for over 400 yards and 3 touchdowns, Prescott continued to display just how elite he’s become as a pure passer. He was certainly helped by his offensive line today, though, who kept him clean in the pocket all afternoon. With Amari Cooper hobbled, Michael Gallup and Randall Cobb each stepped up in big ways as well, both eclipsing 100 yards.

Kellen Moore got back to his creative offensive ways in the victory, getting rookie running back Tony Pollard involved in a plethora of ways.

If you’re looking for negatives, both the defense and special teams units gave you plenty. Outside of the pass rush, nothing about this defense is playing all that well right now. Detroit has solid offensive weapons, but today’s performance was disappointing nonetheless.

The Cowboys also exit today with some poor injury luck, as right tackle La’el Collins left the game in the fourth quarter and did not return.

The win improves the Cowboys to 6-4, sitting a top the NFC East for yet another week. Next Sunday the Cowboys have arguably their biggest test yet, as they go on the road to face the New England Patriots.
