Dallas Cowboys Biggest Team Needs Prior to the 2021 NFL Draft

The Dallas Cowboys once again did a pretty solid job of filling holes to their roster through free agency. Right now they don’t really have any glaring holes, but that doesn’t mean they’ve addressed all of their team needs. In fact, they still have quite a bit of work to do to fill out the roster.

Today I thought we take a look at the Cowboys current team needs heading into the big event of the offseason, the 2021 NFL Draft. With the exception of quarterback and running back there’s probably not a position Dallas couldn’t stand to upgrade via the draft. But, what are their biggest team needs right now?

Let’s take a look…

Dallas Cowboys 2021 Draft Picks (10)

Round 1, Pick 10

Round 2, Pick 44

Round 3, Picks 75 & 99

Round 4, Pick 115 & 138

Dallas Cowboys Team Needs

Cornerback – Filling Chidobe Awuzie’s vacant spot opposite Trevon Diggs is arguably the Dallas Cowboys biggest need heading into the 2021 NFL Draft. With the 10th overall pick they could have their choice of the top CB prospects in this year’s draft class.

Safety – Donovan Wilson is expected to start at SS and Damontae Kazee is a favorite to start at FS right now, but nothings written in stone. The Dallas Cowboys still need more depth at both positions and possibly long-term solutions as well.

Linebacker – Concerns about this position is justifiable. Jaylon Smith and Leighton Vander Esch both played poorly last year and the depth behind them is nearly nonexistent. Improving this position via the draft is an underrated need for the Dallas Cowboys.

Defensive Tackle – Upgrading the run defense should be one of the Dallas Cowboys top priorities. They signed Brent Urban to help address the issue, but could still stand to add more depth at both the one and three technique with one or two of their 10 draft picks.

Offensive Tackle – Tyron Smith and La’el Collins are both coming off of season-ending injuries and we know what the depth looks like behind them. It might be time for Dallas to find Smith’s eventual replacement and could do so as early as the first-round.

Interior Offensive Line – Adding more depth at both center and guard is an underrated need for the Dallas Cowboys. Finding someone who could play the Joe Looney role would be wise on the Cowboys part. His versatility has been invaluable these past few years.
