Dallas Cowboys Good, Bad, and Ugly From the 2019 Season Finale

Well Cowboys Nation, the Dallas Cowboys 2019 season has officially come to an end. They may have ended the season on a high note with an impressive 47-16 win over the Washington Redskins, but it was a little too late. The Philadelphia Eagles were able to clinch the NFC East division with a win over the New York Giants, thus ending the Cowboy season.

The Dallas Cowboys head into the offseason with a lot of questions that will need to be answered. We could see them clean house to their coaching staff and there are a lot of personnel issues to address as well. But that’s a discussion for another time. Let’s get to this week’s edition of The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.

The Good

Like I mentioned earlier, this was one of the more impressive wins for the Dallas Cowboys this season. As such, there was a lot of positive that could go in this category. For me though, the good from the Cowboy season finale had to be Wide Receiver Michael Gallup.

Michael Gallup finished his sophomore season with the Cowboys on a high note. He turned five catches into 98 receiving yards and three touchdowns. He looked every bit the No. 1 receiver yesterday afternoon and that could come into play when the discussion arises about what to do with Amari Cooper this offseason.

The Bad

I actually had a difficult time deciding what to go with in this category. I think the bad for me from the Dallas Cowboys season finale had to be the overall letdown I felt from seeing them dominate like they did. This was a team who was expected to do well this season, but unfortunately disappointed all of us every step of the way.

The Dallas Cowboys now have a lot of work to do in the offseason. That may have wasted all of the talent they were able to put together in 2019, but they can’t afford to do the same next season. The decision they make with the coaching staff and what free agents they decide to retain and let go will have a lot to do with how successful they are next season.

The Ugly

In a roundabout way, I thought the ugly from the Dallas Cowboys season finale was their kicking game. No, I’m not talking about Kai Forbath and the job he’s done since joining the Cowboys. I’m talking about why it took so long for them to move on from Brett Maher.

All season we heard Jason Garrett say he was sticking with Maher because he didn’t see a better kicker available who could come in and replace him. Well, Kai Forbath came in and did just that. He’s been perfect the last three games for the Cowboys and should absolutely be retained for the 2020 season.
