Dallas Cowboys football is back. Fans around the world can rejoice as they watch the Cowboys play the Cleveland Browns.

The first half showed positives and negatives from both the offense and defense.

Cowboys fans might be in for another challenging season of penalties and bewildering plays, but some of it is first-game jitters.

As the first half of the game comes to a close, let’s take a look at what the game has offered so far.

First Half Offense

First Quarter

The offense’s first series showed mistakes and penalties that must be corrected in the second half.

A nice Ezekiel Elliot run, in which he hurdled Denzel Ward, was negated by a holding penalty charged to wide receiver Jalen Tolbert. The entire series went downhill after that penalty.

Dak Prescott was pressured up the middle and sacked on an uncharacteristic sack, which was given up due to Zack Martin’s blocking. Setting up 2nd and 27.

The sack was followed up with a pass short to the left to none other than CeeDee Lamb for eight yards.

Ezekiel Elliott rushed to the left on the next play and gained eight yards.

The first series ended with a 42-yard punt by Bryan Anger.

The second series started with a false start penalty by Hunter Luepke.

The offense picked up steam as Dak Prescott looked good in the pocket and hit CeeDee Lamb with a pass deep right for a 34-yard completion.

The next couple of plays involved a Dak Prescott incompletion and a five-yard rush up the middle by Rico Dowdle.

The next play was a Dak Prescott pass completed to Brandin Cooks for 21 yards and a touchdown.

These two series were the best series of the first quarter.

Second Quarter

The Cowboys started with a Rico Dowdle rush for two yards in the second quarter.

The next play saw Dak Prescott get strip-sacked after Tyler Guyton couldn’t hold the block on Myles Garrett.

The series would end in a Dallas Cowboys punt after an uneventful series.

The second series took up most of the second quarter with several great pass plays as the Cowboys marched methodically down the field.

The fantastic series ended with an Ezekiel Elliott three-yard rushing touchdown.

The following two series saw Brandon Aubrey make two field goals to extend the Cowboys lead.

First Half Defense

The defense in the first half consistently stopped the Cleveland Browns on almost every drive.

The only scoring drive was the first series, where the Browns could march down the field but only came away with a field goal.

The defense locked down the Browns for the next several series. Great tackling and coverage kept the Browns on their heels.

The Dallas Cowboys defense’s second series ended with Micah Parsons’s sack, his first of the season.

The next couple of series were more of the same as the defense shut down the Cleveland Browns defense.

The defense’s last series ended on a Micah Parson tip, which led to an interception by Eric Kendricks.

As every defender seemed on point, the Browns had no answer to the defensive schemes.

The run defense in the first half looked to be an upgrade from last year.
