After 42 days, 3,628,800 seconds, 60,480 minutes, and 1008 hours, the Dallas Cowboys have officially signed all nine members of their 2022 Draft Class. 

Cowboys Reporter Jon Machota announced yesterday the club signed Wisconsin TE Jake Ferguson to a four-year deal, as he was the last player to sign his rookie contract.

While there were no reports of any conflicts between the rookies and the front office working out their deals, with minicamp next week and training camp next month–it’s a great sign to have all the rookies locked up.

And for those keeping track, the last time the Cowboys experienced a rookie holdout was in 1990 when RB Emmitt Smith held out for 48 days, as he was seeking a three-year, $2.3 million deal instead of the five-year, $3.2 million contract the front office was offering. 

With the hype expected around the Cowboys’ early draft picks in minicamp and training camp (Smith, Tolbert, and Williams), Ferguson is a player to watch now since TE Dalton Schultz announced he is sitting out the remainder of 2022 OTAs because of the lack of progress towards a long-term deal. 

If Schultz takes his holdout longer than camp and possibly into the season, Ferguson’s name will be called on early, and there could be a possibility that the Cowboys are running with two rookies on offense on opening day.

Nonetheless, it’s encouraging to see the rookies signed and ready to go. The fun part of the offseason will be here sooner than we realize, and I’m excited to report and break down those thrilling moments we usually see in camp.
