There’s been a bit of musical chairs across the NFC East this offseason.

Following the hiring of Mike McCarthy as the Cowboys head coach, former team leader Jason Garrett found himself an offensive coordinator job with the New York Giants. Garrett is taking a few of his former Cowboys coaching-mates with him to northern New Jersey, where his biggest responsibility will be quarterback Daniel Jones’ development.

New York took Daniel Jones early in the 2019 draft, making him their franchise quarterback and the single most important piece of their roster for the future. The relationship between Jones and Garrett will be vital for seasons to come, and Jones is already trying to start off to on the right foot.

Jones said he spoke to Dak Prescott at the Super Bowl this week, getting some intel on his new offensive coordinator.

“Everyone who has worked with Coach Garrett speaks very highly of him and I think Dak was certainly the same way. Guys respect him and it seems like he’s done a lot for a lot of peoples’ careers, so I’m excited to work with him” – Daniel Jones.

I’d expect nothing but praise to come from Prescott when asked about Garrett. The two seemed to have a solid relationship while together with the Cowboys, and while Garrett’s time as the head coach clearly ran its course, there hasn’t been any ill will between these two to speak of. At least not publicly.

“Coach Garrett is a proven coach in the league. He’s won a lot of football games, coached a lot of great players, so I’m excited to work with him” – Daniel Jones.

Prescott found a ton of success under Garrett the first four seasons, and Giants fans are hoping that their first round pick can develop similarly quickly to the Cowboys fourth round quarterback now that Garrett is on staff.
