DE DeMarcus Lawrence Taken Off PUP List, Can Return to Practice

The Dallas Cowboys haven’t had the best injury news throughout the first two weeks of camp, though none of their star player’s concerns are considered long-term. This is the case for DeMarcus Lawrence, who was activated from the PUP list today. Lawrence can begin practicing ahead of Thursday’s Hall of Fame game, though he likely won’t play in Canton.

The left defensive end position belongs to Lawrence as long as he’s healthy, with Randy Gregory becoming one of the stories of training camp at right end. Being able to work Lawrence and Gregory into practice drills together will help the entirety of the Cowboys defense when it comes time to prepare for gameday.

Lawrence is returning from offseason back surgery, his third procedure on his back over his career. Head Coach Mike McCarthy called this most recent surgery “more of a cleanup”, with the team taking the more cautious approach to his return as opposed to the eight-year veteran.

Lawrence has played in all 16 regular season games for the past four seasons, leading the team in sacks in all but one.
