Jason Witten’s retirement has left some doubt about the future of the tight end position in Dallas. And, well, that was to be expected.
Jason Witten was a pillar of professionalism for his entire career, and only missed 1 game in 15 seasons. His career was incredible, and he deserves all of the praise he’s been receiving from teammates, coaches, fans, and peers.
Multiple leaders on the Cowboys roster wrote a letter to Witten after his retirement was announced. But later in the week current Cowboys defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence posted his own goodbye message to Witten as well, citing Witten’s leadership as a reason for him to be admired.
Can’t thank you enough for everything you’ve done for me @JasonWitten ! pic.twitter.com/lUy8PHocnz

Clearly, Jason Witten has meant everything to the Dallas Cowboys and replacing his leadership will be difficult to do. But with players like DeMarcus Lawrence and Dak Prescott ready and willing to carry the torch, this franchise will hopefully be in good hands moving forward.
