Dak Prescott — does he deserve all this hate?

Throughout the 2022 NFL season, the Dallas Cowboys have had many ups and downs. From an early season injury to Quarterback Dak Prescott’s finger to unexpected wins such as against the Minnesota Vikings and Los Angeles Rams, this season has been crazy.

One problem has stuck out this season in particular, and that’s the amount of hate and judgment Dak Prescott has gotten this year.

Now, in the game of football, the quarterback is the leader of the team. When the leader fails to do his job (win games), it can cause unrest among fans, leaving them upset and wanting change within their team.

It’s been a real problem this season.

Let’s look at whether or not Dak Prescott deserves all of this hate from Cowboys fans.

A lot of this started in the very first game of the season. Against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in week one, the Cowboys’ offense didn’t enter the redzone even once during the game.

After exiting the game with a thumb injury, many fans were pissed at how the game was handled offensively.

To put more fuel on the fire, backup QB Cooper Rush was on fire!

After winning 4 out of 5 games, a quarterback controversy started in Dallas. This wasn’t good for Dak’s position.

Even though Cooper was performing well, the staff decided to keep Prescott as the starter. This didn’t sit well with a lot of Cowboys fans.

When Prescott returned for his first game, post-thumb injury, he still wasn’t liked among fans.

He is 4-1 and the Cowboys have scored a total of 169 points since his return, yet people speak about how he isn’t leading the team well enough.

Personally, I have always liked Dak Prescott. He’s one of my all-time favorite quarterbacks. While I have supported Cooper Rush in the past and praised him for the job he’s done, I still have always liked Prescott as a quarterback.

When I say that, it helps me to understand the argument of the opposing side. People are mad at Dak Prescott because people believe he isn’t playing at his full potential. This is perhaps a problem that I and many fans have had for a while.

In football, and really all over the nation, we want good leaders, and when leaders fail to get the job done, their followers become angry and upset.

While Prescott is an amazing quarterback and has proven his value throughout his career, some fans just don’t like him. They feel that they and the team deserve more.

Dak Prescott doesn’t really deserve the flak he’s getting.

I do understand why many fans are mad at his playing style, but really I think this is common with any NFL team.

The quarterback position carries with it a lot of pressure. In football, especially for the Dallas Cowboys, whenever you aren’t facing 250+ pound men running after you, your own fanbase is running after you.

Dak Prescott is doing a much better job than in the first game of the season, and some people should try to see past that. Dak is a great QB. He can be better, of course (as can any quarterback in the league), but he is a man who can get the job done.
