Draft Network’s Mock Madness 2.0: Dallas Cowboys Edition

Draft Network’s eight staffers started a March Madness bracket-style challenge earlier this week and appropriately named it Mock Madness. Each staffer predicted the first-round to be voted on with the winners moving on to the next round. Which of the eight has made it to the final four and who have they drafted for the Dallas Cowboys?

TDN staffers Trevor Sikkema, Joe Marino, Jordan Reid, and Kyle Crabbs advanced to the final four and have to predict the second-round of the 2020 NFL Draft to be voted on in the hopes of making it into their Mock Madness Championship. Let’s take a look at who they selected for the Dallas Cowboys in the first two rounds…

Trevor Sikkema

Round 1, Pick 13 – C.J. Henderson, CB, Florida

TRADE: Cowboys trade Picks 17 and 82 for 49ers Pick 13

Round 2, Pick 51 – Antoine Winfield Jr., S, Minnesota

My take:

The additions of C.J. Henderson and Antoine Winfield would without a doubt upgrade the Dallas Cowboys secondary, but in order to move up for Henderson Trevor Sikkema had to give up the Cowboys third-round draft pick. To me, that’s a big price to pay because I believe another starter could have been added in the third.

Joe Marino

Round 1, Pick 17 – Kristian Fulton, CB, LSU

Round 2, Pick 51 – Zack Baun, EDGE, Wisconsin

My take:

I originally wasn’t very happy with Joe Marino for selecting Kristian Fulton for the Dallas Cowboys in the first-round, but that was before he added Zack Baun to the mix in the second. I personally would of flip-flopped these picks, but regardless this would be an outstanding haul for the Cowboys. Fulton would be an upgrade at CB and Baun would help upgrade both DE and LB.

Jordan Reid

Round 1, Pick 17 – K’Lavon Chaisson

Round 2, Pick 51 – Ashtyn Davis, S, California

My take:

Safety and defensive end are definitely positions the Dallas Cowboys need to upgrade, so Chaisson and Davis both makes sense. I personally might’ve gone a different direction, but I think the Cowboys would be happy if this is the way the first two picks in the 2020 NFL Draft turned out. The problem I have with it though, are they Day 1 starters or merely depth as rookies?

Kyle Crabbs

Round 1, Pick 17 – Cesar Ruiz, C, Michigan

Round 1, Pick 51 – Cameron Dantzler, CB, Mississippi State

My take:

Cesar Ruiz is little bit of a reach at 17 in my opinion, but he would more than likely be a plug-and-play player for the Dallas Cowboys as a rookie. Cameron Dantzler is one of my “pet cats” and someone I believe could challenge for starting role as a rookie. Both make sense, but this is probably my least favorite of the four.

Who do you want the Dallas Cowboys to draft in the first two rounds of the 2020 NFL Draft?

Level C2/C3 quadriplegic. College graduate with a bachelors degree in sports and health sciences-concentration sports management. Sports enthusiast. Dallas Cowboys fanatic. Lover of life with a glass half-full point of view.
