Eagles defeat injury-riddled 49ers to win the NFC Championship

This seems to have not been the best postseason for the Dallas Cowboys this year. The Cowboys’ arch-rivals are heading to the Super Bowl. The Philadelphia Eagles beat the San Francisco 49ers yesterday in the NFC Championship to clinch a Super Bowl berth.

As the game started, viewers were hoping to see a close game between these two teams. After all, the 49ers and Eagles both have amazing defenses and their offenses are somewhat equivalent to each other. So, how did the game turn out?

Let’s just say… it wasn’t what fans expected it to be.

To start out, the Eagles took a 7-0 lead over the 49ers. Simple beginning, right? Just over halfway through the 1st quarter, Quarterback Brock Purdy injured his right elbow.

That makes the third 49ers quarterback injured during this season. First was Trey Lance, then Jimmy Garoppolo, and now Brock Purdy.

The 4th string quarterback, Josh Johnson, would come out on the field to try to lead this 49ers team to what had now become an extreme underdog victory. Johnson has played for a total of 14 NFL teams. He’s also played in the XFL, AAF, and UFL leagues.

This wouldn’t be the end of Purdy though, as he would later step back into the quarterback position before the game ended.

While Johnson was leading the 49ers’ offense, they seemed to have a spark of light as Christian McCaffrey would score a 23-yard run to tie the game at 7-7.

If you think Brock Purdy hurting his elbow was weird, just wait until you hear what else occurred during this game. Nick Bosa collapsed on the sideline after jumping over an incoming player.

This is one of the most bizarre injuries I’ve ever seen. Bosa wasn’t even in on this play and yet he suffered a bad injury.

This game was really just sort of strange to watch.

Two key players were taken out early in this game for the 49ers as the Eagles went into halftime up 7-21.

As the 3rd quarter started, all seemed lost for the 49ers… which it was. If you thought three quarterbacks getting hurt in a season was crazy, well try four. That’s right, Josh Johnson went down too.

So, now what? Do the 49ers put in their punter to be the quarterback?

While Purdy still had an elbow problem, he was the best shot that the 49ers had to finish out the game. Purdy was put back in however they rarely threw again this game.

It was sad to see a team who came so far with so little get massacred by an aggressive Eagles team.

As I would normally make the rest of the article intense on who won the game, it really wasn’t close at all. The Eagles won by a score of 7-31. The 49ers continued to just run the ball constantly and it ended up making the game end quicker.

As for the Eagles, we will be seeing them play the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl on February 12th. I am sure the Cowboys and their fans will be cheering for the Chiefs this year, I know I will.
