Ezekiel Elliott has been dealing with a hamstring issue that he suffered in the Dallas Cowboys 23-9 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles last Sunday. Initial reports said the Cowboys were preparing to be without Elliott which would give second-year Running Back Tony Pollard the nod as the starter.
The two-time rushing champion may not be down for the count after all though. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Elliott looked good at Saturday’s workout and has a good chance to play vs the Pittsburgh Steelers pending a pre-game test.
#Cowboys RB Zeke Elliott, dealing with a hamstring, has a good chance to play despite the team promoting another back, source said. He looked good at Saturday’s workout, but will be tested today pre-game to make sure he can open it up. DE Aldon Smith (knee) is expected to go.

Elliott has been an ironman since entering the NFL in 2016. He’s started all 64 games that’s he’s been eligible to play in, missing eight games due to a six-game suspension in 2017 and sitting out two season finales (2016, 2018).
2020 has been a rough season for Elliott. He has yet to reach the 100-yard mark through eight games. Before his 63-yard outing vs the Eagles last Sunday, Elliott had failed to reach 60 yards in four of the previous five games (had 91 vs the New York Giants in Week 5). Given the obvious struggles on the Cowboys offensive line, it may be wise to keep Elliott out to avoid further injury.
The three-time Pro Bowl selection, however, is doing everything he can to be on the field as the Cowboys look to hand the Steelers their first loss of 2020.
