Feed Zeke: Cowboys RB Elliott Closing on 2018 Rushing Title

Ezekiel Elliott is currently 90 yards behinds the Rams’ Todd Gurley in the race for the 2018 rushing title. With Los Angeles on their bye week, the Dallas Cowboys running back has a great opportunity this week to close the gap.

To catch up to Gurley, Zeke will have to have a much better day against the Washington Redskins than he had in Week 7. Elliott was held to just 33 rushing yards on 15 carries, his worst day this year and one of the worst in his career.

Washington still has the 6th-best run defense in the NFL, but lately they have been as strong as earlier in the year. Over the last three weeks, the Redskins have given up the following:

  • Week 11 vs Texans – 132 yards on 28 carries by RBs
  • Week 10 vs Bucs – 68 yards on 16 carries by RBs
  • Week 9 vs Falcons – 148 yards on 23 carries by RBs

The last time that the Cowboys and Redskins met, Dallas didn’t have Amari Cooper at receiver. His arrival has loosened up the offense and made it harder to key on Elliott, which is evidenced by Zeke’s high production lately.

This may very well be the deciding factor in today’s game. Will Washington once again stifle Ezekiel Elliott, or will the Cowboys RB continue his hot streak?

If he does, Zeke just might be the NFL rushing leader by the end of the game.
