The Dallas Cowboys made a concerted effort to improve their offensive line this offseason.
By not only drafting guard Connor Williams in the 2nd round of the 2018 NFL Draft, but also signing veteran linemen Cameron Fleming and Marcus Martin, the Cowboys made it clear they could not fall apart upfront ever again.
In the midst of all of this turnover, former Cowboys offensive lineman Byron Bell was sort of forced out. Today, it’s being reported that Byron Bell has found a new home with the Green Bay Packers.
Packers signed T/G Byron Bell and released T/G Jacob Alsadek.

Byron Bell’s career with the Cowboys was quite short. Bell was signed last offseason to Dallas, and was expected to compete for the swing tackle job. Once Chaz Green was replaced at guard by Jonathan Cooper, however, Green assumed that swing tackle role.
Of course, when Green was forced to play against the Atlanta Falcons, all hell broke loose upon the Dallas Cowboys offense.
Byron Bell replaced Green in the 4th quarter of that game and then started against the Philadelphia Eagles the following week. Bell was better than Green when replacing the injured Tyron Smith, but neither players were objectively good.
Byron Bell now joins the Green Bay Packers, where I’d anticipate him to compete for one of the guard spots in front of quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
