Austin, who played eight seasons with the Dallas Cowboys, is returning home to New Jersey for this coaching job, where he was once a star at Monmouth University. Austin had been a coaching intern for the Cowboys under Jason Garrett, before becoming an offensive assistant with the 49ers in 2019.
That’s where the Saleh connection kicks in.
Miles Austin still holds the single game Cowboys receiving record with 250 yards against the Chiefs in his first NFL start. That was the game that put Miles Austin on the map, and helped him develop a rapport with then quarterback Tony Romo.
Congratulations and good luck to the former Cowboy!
