Guess Who’s Back: Cowboys, Ezekiel Elliott Agree to $90M Contract Extension

It’s finally over. Dallas Cowboys Running Back Ezekiel Elliott will put an end to his holdout on Wednesday and hit the practice field after reaching a deal with the Cowboys. The long awaited extension matches early rumors as he will sign an extension for six years and $90M. $50M of which are guaranteed.

The news will cause a huge sigh of relief among Cowboys fans with the season opener only a few days away. Many feared the possibility of Elliott missing any regular season playing time but that won’t be the case.

When the coaches install the gameplan with their players, #21 will be there. Make no mistake about it, he’s ready to go as he’s been training in Cabo all this time.

How much he will play on Week 1 remains to be seen, as Tony Pollard has done a very good job with the Cowboys and might get more playing time that we think with Zeke coming in just now. The important thing, the Cowboys have him for the long run.

Being locked up until 2026, Zeke has a unique chance to prove there are still running backs that matter in the long run and that there are generational talents to prove to be the exception. He has the chance, believe it or not, to go and match Emmitt Smith’s career with the Cowboys.

Contract extension time is not over for the Cowboys. Dak Prescott and Amari Cooper still headline the front office’s “To-Do” list. The good thing is, no one is missing on the team now. Let’s get ready for some football.
