Has Father Time caught up to Ezekiel Elliott?

The Dallas Cowboys’ prize Running Back, Ezekiel Elliott, is starting to get older as his 8th season in the NFL approaches.

Elliott has been a great running back during the last seven seasons, as he is definitely one of the strongest and most resentful runners in the league. With age creeping up behind his shoulders, what is the best option for Elliott and the Cowboys moving forward?

Now that Running Back Tony Pollard has shown great amounts of skill and talent over the past year, many fans are expecting Pollard to take over as the starter.

What about Elliott though? Where would he end up?

Perhaps rather than having Elliott sit on the bench, the Dallas Cowboys could offer a trade with another team. I am sure there are plenty of NFL teams that need a solid running back to perform as Elliott does.

It’s no lie that the Cowboys have the best “Duo Running Backs” in the NFL. No other team has two running backs that could easily be starters on any team.

Who could the Cowboys trade Elliott for?

I would say either a wide receiver or offensive lineman would be a great choice. Head Coach Mike McCarthy has already been on an outrageous genocide this early off-season. After firing multiple coaches and cutting players, it wouldn’t be too much of a surprise to see McCarthy cancel Elliott from the team.

I personally do not think it would be a good choice to trade Elliott. While a few good players would be nice, having two powerful running backs is a rare award that not a lot of teams have.

Earlier last season I made an article stating how the Cowboys should use Pollard for the main running plays and have Elliott for goal-line runs and scores. This idea seemed to come true as the Cowboys started using Pollard WAY more than before.

Even though his age is starting to grow, Elliott is still a solid runner and it seems that he can get the job done despite the length of his career.

Who knows, maybe next season will be a breakout year for the man.

For now, it doesn’t seem like Elliott is going anywhere. Losing him would add somewhat of a disturbing feeling for fans and players. After all, why get rid of a solid running back just because he’s getting older? Elliott can even play the center position!… Too soon?

Elliott has some gas left in his tank to keep going for the boys.

More plays involving both Pollard and Elliott on the field would be an amazing advantage for the Cowboys. Imagine having two super-talented running backs on the field at the same time.

It doesn’t matter which one of them is getting the ball, they will both run you over!

Having Elliott return would be ideal as his career with the boys would feel very strange if it were to just end right now.
