Have Dallas Cowboys Escaped the 2020 Offseason Unscathed?

It can’t be true… Can it? Have the Dallas Cowboys actually escaped an entire offseason completely unscathed?

The Dallas Cowboys have had no self-inflicted wounds, no serious injuries, and surprisingly enough there are no pending suspensions. It seems almost unheard of considering what’s taken place the past few years, but now the Cowboys can start the 2020 season with little to nothing hanging over their heads.

I don’t know about you, but I find that quite comforting. It’s not like in years past wondering whether or not the Dallas Cowboys would lose one of their key players at some point in the season because of an off the field incident. That’s not a comforting feeling to be burdened with and I for one am grateful.

Let it sink in for just a little bit…

Over the past several seasons the Cowboys have had to worry about a potential suspension for Tyrone Crawford (bar fight incident) and Ezekiel Elliott (“assaulting” a security guard and “alleged” domestic violence). Both were key contributors on offense and defense and there was no clear solution as to how to replace one of the other.

We can now put our minds at ease of such a thing happening in 2020. The start of the season is just around the corner and with players already involved in training camp, there shouldn’t be any slip-ups between now and then. The unforeseen in-season injury or suspension can still happen of course, but for the first time in a while the Cowboys aren’t starting off already in a bind.

The rest of the NFC East division don’t really have that luxury. The Philadelphia Eagles already lost their starting RG Brandon Brooks for the season with an ACL injury. The Washington Redskins Football Team recently released RB Derrius Guice after his domestic violence arrest. And last but not least, the New York Giants CB DeAndre Baker was recently charged with four counts of robbery with a firearm.

Talk about a headache…

From where I’m sitting though, the Dallas Cowboys have had a quiet and eventful offseason compared to their division rivals. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come under new Head Coach Mike McCarthy. Wouldn’t that be nice!?
