“He’s Worth The Hype:” WR CeeDee Lamb Is Ready For A Monster Rookie Season

After their first week of practice, Cowboys running back Tony Pollard described CeeDee Lamb in simple terms: “he’s worth the hype.”

Dallas’ first round pick backed this quote up with the best catch of Cowboys Camp so far, a toe tapping touchdown in the corner of the end zone from Dak Prescott (via DallasCowboys.com).

It’s easy to get caught up in the talk around Dallas about this receiving corps. Can they have three guys go for over 1,000 yards? Do they really have three number one receivers? Is this best wide receiver group in all of football?

And while Lamb has yet to play a down of real NFL football yet, it certainly feels like the answer to all three of those questions is yes. And a resounding yes at that.

By all accounts, CeeDee Lamb has been a stud during the early days of practice, earning high praise from veterans all over the locker room. Dak Prescott told DallasCowboys.com this week that Lamb is “very gifted” in both his talent and “feel” for the game. Something which surprises him considering how young Lamb is.

“Great hands, has a great feel for the game. I think that’s probably the most impressive thing, to be a young rookie playing in the slot and just have a feel for the game and know where to be” – Prescott.

We know that when Prescott clicks with a receiver it can happen immediately and bring big time results (i.e. Amari Cooper in 2018), so the rapport these two have developed already should be encouraging to Cowboys fans.

Lamb spoke about this rapport as well, saying that it’s his job to make life easier on Dak Prescott, not the other way around.

“No matter where the ball is, it’s your job to catch it…The quarterback has done all the hard parts. He got the ball out of his hands. He made checks. He did everything else. Now for you, all you’ve got to go catch the ball” – CeeDee Lamb.

The Cowboys struggled with dropped balls in 2019, but with the trio of Cooper, Gallup, and Lamb all together it’s tough to imagine them struggling at anything in the passing game during 2020.

So far, CeeDee has lived up to all the draft day excitement. Now all that’s left is for him to do it on Sundays.
