A Dallas Cowboys football blog

How can the Cowboys defeat the Colts?

The Indianapolis Colts have been a shaky team lately. With benching Quarterback Matt Ryan and new coaches coming and going, the Colts are a mess. As they enter this game, this is a blessing and a curse for the Dallas Cowboys.

On the one hand, the team is so disorganized that it can be an awful team all together. This can make the Colts an easy opponent, and one that can make so many mistakes such as turnovers, bad plays, and missed field goals that result in them not even scoring.

On the other hand, this team has a lot of good players on it, and if they wanted to, they could totally come into this game looking for a win and play as hard as they have all year.

Back to the main point though. The Cowboys can 100% stop this team. We have the players and staff to shut the Colts down, however as much as it may seem stupid to do, the Cowboys must treat this game as a playoff/important game altogether.

One thing Dallas must watch out for is the Colts’ defense. They have let up an average of 20.3 points per game this year. Not too bad, but Quarterback Dak Prescott and the rest of the offense must be prepared not to make mistakes and just drive the ball.

Another factor the Cowboys should do is run the ball. Throughout the whole league, the Cowboys have the best running back duo by far. With Running Back Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard, anything is possible. The Cowboys should just run run run this Sunday and plow through the Colts’ defense.

I feel like the Cowboys could have big plays through the air too, however, the Colts’ cornerbacks are pretty darn good this year. One idea for passing is to go long on a lot of plays. Wide Receiver CeeDee Lamb and Noah Brown are fast, they can for sure get past these defenders on long routes and be open for a dime of a pass from Dak.

I noticed against the Minnesota Vikings this kind of style was used. I really like it, and it seems to have a major impact on the game (hence 40-3). Throw the ball deep, or just run the ball as much as you can.

Now for the defense. I trust the Cowboys’ defense to take care of business this Sunday, however, they must remember one thing: Contain. The defense must contain the Colts and not let them have unexpected drives. We don’t need interceptions or huge sacks, we need to just play football, and stop them from moving down the field.

As long as we don’t let up weird big plays, I think the Cowboys have this game in the bag. The main goal for this game is to stay balanced and steady throughout the whole game. Don’t play risky with this team, just get the job done, and get the 9th win of the season. Go Cowboys!
