Is 2018 Cole Beasley’s Last Year With the Cowboys?

Prepare yourselves Cowboys Nation, this may be the last year we see Cole Beasley suiting up in a Dallas Cowboys uniform. He will be entering the last year of the four-year contract he signed back in 2015, and his future with the organization is up in the air.

A lot of us were completely shocked with the way things played out with Dez Bryant and even more baffled by Jason Witten’s sudden interest in retiring. No one was able to really prepare themselves for life without two of the Cowboys best playmakers. But, you should probably start preparing yourself with life without Cole Beasley.

It was speculated all offseason that Cole Beasley would become a salary cap casually and Ryan Switzer would step in as his replacement. That’s no longer the case now that Switzer has been traded to the Oakland Raiders, but that doesn’t really change Beasley’s status much.

The sad truth is, 2018 might be the last time we see Beasley in a Cowboys uniform. But, not even that is guaranteed.

If we have learned anything this offseason, it’s that the Dallas Cowboys are no longer afraid of parting with “fan favorites”. They may have taken their own sweet time deciding what to do with Dez Bryant, but they had no problem severing ties with him in the end.

They also didn’t have any problem trading away Ryan Switzer, who a lot of Cowboys Nation had high hopes for. Making these kind of tough decisions have been hard for the Cowboys organization in the past, but we could be looking at a new way of thinking by the hierarchy.

That new way of thinking could have an impact on Cole Beasley’s future. He is without a doubt one of the better slot receivers in the league, but the Cowboys may not be willing to pay out the money it would take to keep him around moving forward.

How things end up playing out in 2018 for not only Cole Beasley, but the rest of the receivers could make this an easy decision for the Dallas Cowboys.

I for one am going to hate to see Cole Beasley play for another NFL team, but it’s hard to see the Dallas Cowboys signing him to another contract extension. So, if you’re like me, you may want to start preparing yourself for life without #11.

Do you think 2018 will be Cole Beasley’s last with the Dallas Cowboys?
