As we inch closer to the Dallas Cowboys training camp, I couldn’t help but continue to look at their schedule and wonder how this next season will shape this team.
Its seems as if they are going to let Mike McCarthy and Dak Prescott sink or swim in 2024. They haven’t signed CeeDee Lamb yet, and here we are again, just like we did a season ago, wondering if this team will make the playoffs in 2024.

Longest Stretch Since The 90s
The Cowboys have made the playoffs in three straight seasons, the longest stretch since their dominance in the 90s.
Yes, I would like to see them do something when they make the playoffs just as much as the next guy, but they have to get there first.
Conor Orr who is an NFL writer for Sports Illustrated thinks that the Cowboys will miss the playoffs this season.
He took the Bears to replace them in the NFC playoffs, yeah okay. He said that Dallas “isn’t markedly better than the Giants anymore.”
That made me laugh. Not sure if he watched any of the games from a year ago, but the Cowboys outscored the G-Men a total of 89-17. But sure Orr, whatever you say.
Biggest Worry?
Honestly, my biggest worry about this team is the ability to run the football. Tony Pollard had over 1,000 yards last season, but it just looked hard to do.
Nobody was worried about them doing that. It was to cover CeeDee Lamb and live with the result. That will probably be the offense again this year. I think Brandin Cooks will have over 1,000 yards this season, and Jake Ferguson will continue to grow.
I just don’t trust a running back-by-committee approach.
Mike Zimmer taking over the defense makes me less worried about that side of the ball in 2024.
Zimmer is not going to allow what Dan Quinn did at times last season. The defense was all about taking the ball away and making splash plays until they had to get stops against above-average offense, they just couldn’t do it.
Could Mike McCarthy be fed up with what's going on with the #DallasCowboys?? 👀 👀 pic.twitter.com/oesZT8ah4H

If I am being honest with you, I don’t think they win 12 games, but they should get to 10 wins, and that should be enough to make the playoffs.
They have to start beating better teams though, not just the Eagles. The first handful of games is going to test them, while the end gives them an advantage being at home for 90% of them.
Does Jerry Even Care?
Jerry Jones will win either way. If the Cowboys make the playoffs, he can say he did it his way!
If they miss the playoffs, the entire media world will still be talking about what they should do next while in the middle of the playoffs.
This is exactly how he wants it. All he cares about is the next time he will get to speak on his radio show.

Do I ever think I will see the Cowboys win a title in my lifetime? I won’t say no because I am also a Chicago Cubs and Denver Nuggets fan.
It took the Cubs over 100 years, while the Nuggets never won one EVER. So never say never, but as long as Jerry is around, it is hard to think this team will compete for a Super Bowl again.
We will see how training camp goes in less than a month, but I am sure we will only get to hear from Jerry and not the head coach. I just wish he would sit back and allow the team do what they need to do without all the distractions.
