Jerry Jones Suggests Cowboys May Make Trades, Gives Update on Dak Prescott

Jerry Jones made his weekly appearance on 105.3 The Fan on Friday morning and shared some important updates regarding the trade deadline and quarterback Dak Prescott’s calf strain.

With the trade deadline coming up on November 2, it’s possible fans see a few Cowboys leave the team and some new ones arrive. The Cowboys are no stranger to midseason trades, as Friday marked the three-year anniversary of superstar wideout Amari Cooper’s acquisition. When asked about the potential of a trade this season, Jones hinted at a possibility.

“Open for business year round,” the Cowboys’ owner said. “On the other hand, we’ve got players coming [back from injury] that we’ve got to have roster spot room for.”

Jones is referring to the multiple key Cowboys who have been placed on injured reserve in 2021. DeMarcus Lawrence, Michael Gallup, Kelvin Joseph, Neville Gallimore and Sean McKeon have all gone down this season but are expected to soon return.

When asked about the various injuries on the team, including the calf strain Dak Prescott suffered on the final play of Sunday’s overtime win against the Patriots, Jones pointed toward full speed ahead.

“Picture a big ol’ thumbs up,” Jones said. “You can go down the list of our guys that we have coming in the near term. Gallup, of course, and Dak, I feel good about his status… thumbs up across the board.”

The Cowboys are fortunate to have a bye week when they do, considering the injuries they’re facing and the decisions they may need to consider making at the trade deadline. It’s looking like fans could see a very different Dallas Cowboys team when they visit the Minnesota Vikings on Halloween night.
